Solids and Particles in the Wastewater Process
Munchers are employed in wastewater treatment to specifically optimize the particle size of solids. This serves both to protect channels, pipelines, and downstream process technology and to ensure an efficient and economical treatment process. They are used not only in the inflow of the mechanical cleaning stage, where they shred fiber-based hygiene products, leaves, or small stones that enter through the sewer system. Munchers are also used in subsequent process steps, such as in the thickening of primary sludge, where the agglomeration of fine solids can lead to clogging of pumps and pipelines.
Twin-Shaft Munchers in Wastewater Treatment Pipeline Munchers
The Mono twin-shaft munchers of the TR series have been specifically designed for installation in pipelines and represent the latest and most advanced generation of munchers. They can handle solid-laden flow rates of up to 800 m³/h and can optionally be designed according to ATEX directives. Their flow-optimized design includes two rotor blades equipped with knives, which produce a high torque at low rotational speeds and effectively shred solids. The cutting tools of the TR series can be changed in situ as standard, while the integrated solid trap captures and retains non-shreddable materials. Optionally, the process technology can be monitored and controlled via digital network standards such as PROFIBUS.
Channel Munchers
The A series from Mono includes twin-shaft munchers specifically designed for shredding solids in channels and inlets. These munchers are suitable for channel depths of up to 1500 mm and can efficiently process flow rates of up to 1400 m³/h. Two rotors equipped with cutting tools operate at a maximum speed of 85 RPM, generating high torque that allows for reliable and effective reduction of solid size. The channel munchers of the A series can also be optionally monitored and controlled via digital network standards such as PROFIBUS.
