Vaisala WAA151

Used by Meteorological Institutes

Description

The Vaisala WAA151 is an optoelectric, fast-responding wind speed transducer. The bowl cross consists of three lightweight conical bowls that ensure excellent linearity throughout the measurement range up to 75m/s.

A pulse train is generated by rotating the shaft and refracting an infrared light beam 14 times per revolution. The output signal is proportional to the wind speed (246Hz=24.6m/s).

The shaft and housing are supplied with heating elements that ensure minimal friction in the bearing even in severe cold.

The WAA151 sensor is part of Vaisala's WA15 wind measurement system and is normally delivered together with the WAV151 direction sensor. The WA15 system is proven, robust and reliable.

Optional:

Mounting arm for wind sensors for speed and direction pre-wired with junction box, type WAC151.

Mounting arm as above with analog transmitter for speed and direction with adjustable measuring ranges and mA outputs, type WAT12.

Mounting arm as above with digital transmitter for speed and direction, with RS485 output.

Power supplier.

Spare parts: Bowl crosses, wind vanes, ball bearings and seals. Surge protectors.
