Waukesha Circumferential Piston Pumps for Conveying Chemical Products
A company specializing in macromolecular chemistry is pumping various chemical products from a tank farm into trucks. The progressive cavity pump used for this purpose repeatedly encountered problems with regards to shaft sealing and the resistance of the elastomers.
Taking into account the specifications (flow rate: 20-40 m³/h, pressure 10 bar, viscosity 500-2500 mPas), a pump of the Universal 2 series from Waukesha Cherry Burrell with a special double-acting mechanical seal was selected for this application after expert advice from the sales engineer of AxFlow GmbH in Germany.
Initially, due to the poor suction conditions, problems with cavitation occurred, which destroyed the mechanical seals of the pumps.
